Two new schemes have been introduced to try to help charities raise more money via face-to-face fundraising. Gift Fundraising has issued all its street fundraisers with handheld computers (PDAs) following a test for Scope, which saw gift aid declarations rise by almost 10 per cent over a two-month period as a result of using the device.

Prospecting teams for Oxfam, Unicef and Cancer Research UK are using hand-held PDAs to collect information from potential donors on the street. F2F agency Gift Fundraising introduced the devices for all its prospecting from 21 April, and plans to extend them to its face-to-face teams this summer.
