Gift ushers in new era for Face-to-Face

Published Fri 22 August 2008

Gift Fundraising has become the first fundraising agency to consign form filling to the history books.

This week the company issued handheld computers – or PDAs – to all its on-street staff following a successful two-month test campaign for Scope, and will no longer use carbon copy forms traditionally associated with face-to-face fundraising.

Gift were also the first agency to introduce PDAs to its prospecting teams, rolling out the devices in spring following a six-month trial.

Milly Ahmed, Director, said: “We’re so excited about making this switch. It helps Gift reduce its environmental impact and at the same time to offer a better service to our clients.

“We’ve found that the public respond really well to the professional look, and we’re seeing a big increase in the quantity and accuracy of email addresses and phone numbers collected, helping charities to communicate even better with donors. We can even validate bank account details at the point of signup, which cuts out any chance of human error.”

Gift’s latest innovation also means that donors’ personal details have never been safer, since information entered into the PDAs is instantaneously encrypted with special software and communicated to a secure server.

Established in 2001, Gift Fundraising specialises in traditional face-to-face fundraising and together with Bluefrog were pioneers of prospecting.
